本研究では沿岸漁業者に関する生活史的検討を行った。調査対象は福岡県福岡市東区志賀島地区に居住する漁業者である。志賀島地区は博多湾入口に位置する志賀島の1集落である。志賀島地区では1～2名が小型動力漁船に乗り組む個人漁が中心となっている。主たる漁業種類は小型機船底びき網と釣り漁業である。この研究では1938年生まれの漁業者A氏の漁澇活動を対象に、主に聞き取り調査を行った。彼のライフヒストリーを調査したうえで、現在彼が営んでいる漁業について、漁具漁法を調査するとともに、彼が漁澇活動を営む際に駆使する知識を調査した。2012年におけるA氏の漁業暦を仕切書に基づいてみると、5月から8月に営まれるキスゴ(シロギス)を対象とした刺網、9月から10月に営まれるカナト(シロサバフグ)を対象とした一本釣り、春季・秋季・冬季に営まれる、サワラ、ブリを対象としたひきなわ釣りで構成されていた。調査ではA氏が保持する、シオに関する知識に着目した。シオとは潮汐潮流を指す。A氏によれば、漁を行うに際して最も要求されるのは、シオについての熟知することだという。漁業種類別の出漁日や1日のうちで漁を行う時間とシオには密接な関係があるとされる。そこで、仕切書に基づいた出漁日とシオの関係性を分析した。その結果、2012年の仕切書では一本釣り、1986年12月から87年11月の仕切書ではキスながし網、タイ一本釣りにおける出漁日とシオの関係性を指摘することができた。今後については、シオの問題のみならず、A氏が漁に際して駆使する諸知識について検討を進めるとともに、他の漁業者についても同様な調査を実施して、志賀島地区の漁業者が保持する漁澇にかかわる生活を明らかにしてゆきたい。
