本研究は、見るスポーツのスポーツプロダクトの概念モデルを作成した上で、スポーツイベントに来場する観戦者を対象に概念モデルを基に作成された質問紙調査を実施する事により、以下の2点を実証することを目的としている。(1)球技系スポーツの"見るスポーツについての楽しさ"をプロダクトの構造として明らかにすること。(2)プロダクトの機能として、イベントの性格によるプロダクトの特性を説明するとともにプロダクトを構成する各構造因子を明らかにすること。調査に当たっては、次の5大会の観客を対象とした。NBA東京大会、ワールドカップバレー、Vリ-グバレーボール、社会人ラグビ-大会、日本バスケットボールリ-グである。各大会ともに調査票を500票ずつ計2500票配布し、回収された有効標本は402票であった。得られたサンプルデータについて統計処理を施し考察した結果、次の2点が明らかとなった。(1)見るスポーツのプロダクトは、中心のスペクタクル層と外周のメディア層に分類され、さらに、スペクタクル層は、中核にゲーム層、その外側にエンターテイメント層で形成される構造となっている。因子分析により、6つのプロダクト構造因子が抽出された。得られた因子は、プロダクト構造要素として、ゲーム層には、結果応援因子、技術因子、学習因子が配置され、エンターテイメント層には、セレモニ-因子が、メディア層には、付加サービス因子とメディア因子が配置された。(2)イベント別に因子得点を分散分析した結果から、イベントの性格を記述すると、NBAは、技術面、セレモニ-、メディア、付加サービスが高く、5イベント中最も多機能的なイベントである。ワールドカップバレーボールは、技術面のみがやや高い。社会人ラグビ-は、メディア面が高い。Vリ-グは、応援面、技術面、セレモニ-面が高いイベントである。
