项目摘要

本研究は、近代合理主義が確立されるフランス17世紀に頻繁に論じられた情念について、1)理性とは対立概念である情念を近代理性確立期において再考することにより、近代理性そのものを再検討する、2)当時の情念考察の射程を実証的に推し量り、その問題系の大きさと所在を明確にすることにより、情念を基軸に当時の思想状況を再検討する、3)フランスでの近年の研究を踏まえ、近代理性の祖デカルトにおける情念考察を存在論的な視点から捉え直す、を目的とした。今年度は、A]:昨年度収集した1)と2)に関する文献資料の整理・分割研究、B]:3)のデカルト『情念論』の研究およびその研究が一部をなす準備中の博士論文の完了、を目標とした。A]については、昨年度収集した資料を手がかりに網羅的な参考文献表作成に取り掛かり、その文献表をもとに当時の諸情念論の各々を当時の思想状況の中で位置づける作業を行った。次いで、その中で、M.Cureau de La Chamber(アカデミー・フランセーズ、フランス科学アカデミーのともに初代会員)の情念論に着目した。デカルトのように、理性に対立しかつそれにより把握できない自らの内なる事態と情念を捉えて解明する意図が当時の情念論の多くに見られるが、それとは全く正反対にLa Chambreは外面的に現れる兆候として情念を捉え、その観点から人間の類型化を意図している。そのような意図を文献細部の検証から多層に論証し、デカルトとLa Chambreのように全く異なる観点からの人間把握-内から外からか-が共時的に存在するフランス17世紀思想状況の一断面を明らかにした。その成果が『GALLIA』(第38号、1999、pp.1-8)掲載論文である。B]については、「驚き」の情念について先行研究を網羅的に検証し、それについての心身の境界の根本問題として私見を纏めた。しかし、残念ながら、それらB]の成果を博士論文として提出するまでに至らなかった。
