项目摘要

本研究では、1930年代、1960年代、1980年前後、1990年前後という、イギリスの歴史教育史において転換期となった時期に注目して、発展系列学習論、「実用主義」歴史教育論、イエラ学習論、「本質主義」歴史教育論、「ピアジェ派」歴史教育論、人物史学習論、New History論、全英共通カリキュラム・歴史コースという八つの歴史教育論の理論的・実践的特徴について検討し、その歴史的展開を整理することを目標とした。八つの歴史教育論は、それらが主張された時期に歴史教育が直面した課題に答えるとともに、それ以前に主張された理論が抱える問題点を克服するものとして登場した。よって、本年度は、これらの理論が主張された四つの時期に注目して、イギリスにおける歴史教育の理論的・実践的展開を整理した。本研究の概要は以下の通りである。(1) 八つの歴史教育論は、それ以前の理論のどのような問題点を克服するものとして主張されたのかを検討した。(2) 1930年代、1960年代、1980年前後、1990年前後という四つの時期において、歴史教育が直面していた課題を、当時の教育書や教育雑誌等から明らかにした。(3) 四つの時期における歴史教育をめぐるイギリスの社会状況について考察した。(4) 社会状況の変化と関連させ、イギリスの歴史教育の理論的・実践的展開を整理した。
