本研究では、教科教育学研究として、イギリスの多様な歴史教育論を比較、検討し、最終的には歴史教育論の類型化を行うことを目的とした。平成13年度は、教科教育学研究としての歴史教育論の類型化モデルの作成を行うとともに、そのモデルの有効性を検討した。(1)昨年度に作成したイギリスの歴史教育に関する資料のデータベースに、本年度新たに収集した資料を加えた。(2)イギリスを事例として作成した歴史教育論の類型化モデルを、アメリカの歴史教育論に援用し、そのモデルが教科教育学研究としての類型化モデルとして有効性であることを明らかにした。(3)イギリスの多様な歴史教育論の中から、ジェフレィズが提唱した発展系列学習論(1930年代)、ストロングの「実用主義」歴史教育論(1930年代、1960年代)カーペンターが理論化したイエラ学習論(1960年代)、バーストンの「本質主義」歴史教育論(1960年代)コルサムによる人物史学習論(1980年前後)、ロジャースが主張したNew History論(1980年前後)、そして、これまでに作成されたナショナル・カリキュラム歴史コースのすべてを、作成した類型化モデルに即して分析し、それらが独自の性格を有する理論として成立し得たのは、目標論、カリキュラム構成論、授業構成論という三つの論理の上位にあり、それらを統一的に説明する原理の核となる論理の独自性故であることを解明した。
