1 アレルギー患者会の組織化を分析するために、それぞれの団体の具体的な活動内容と自己規定を明らかにし、両者の関係について調べた。データとして、アレルギーの会全国連絡会が行った加盟団体へのアンケート回答を用いた。結果として、育児サークルタイプと消費者団体タイプの団体では活動内容と自己規定の一致が見られた。一方、非営利法人団体タイプ、患者会タイプ、市民運動団体タイプの団体ではそれほど一致していなかった。方法論として社会構築主義アプローチを採用したがその妥当性については同じデータからは判断できないという立場を採った。この結果については雑誌論文として発表した。2 医療化の傾向を探るため、あるアレルギーの会の会報誌に掲載された会員投稿記事を拾い集め、内容について分析した。自らや子どもの症状をどのように記述しているのか、治療についての考えがどのように表現されているのかを分類して整理した。結果として、複数の医師、治療法にあたった場合、最終的に選択した医師が診断に用いる医学用語をそのまま用いて症状を記述している傾向が見られた。また、その医師の治療法が前提としている治癒モデルにしたがって症状の経過を記述している傾向が見られた。使ったデータがその治療法に賛意を示している会員が大半である会の会報誌のものなので、例外が見あたらなかった点が逆に方法論上、問題があったと考えられる。医療化の傾向に関する知見として、直接治療には関係のなかった生活様式の変更がこの治療法に結びつけて語られる記事が見られた。この結果については日本保健医療社会学会で報告予定である。
