项目摘要

本年度中は、日本の金融政策の実証研究にさらに大きな進展が見られた。第一に、モデルの係数が時間とともに変化するようなベイズ的ベクトル自己回帰モデルを用いて、1995年以降、政策の効果が極端に低下していることを明らかにした。この研究の中間的な結果は経済社会総合研究所の内部資料で報告された。さらに研究を深化させて学術誌に投稿する予定である。第二に、東京大学のR.Anton Braun助教授との共同研究で、日本の金融政策の効果を記述する上でどのような理論モデルがもっとも適当であるかを実証的に明らかにする手法を開発した。第三に、やはりBraun氏と共同で、日本の株式収益率にどのようなマクロ的ショックが反映されているかを実証的に明らかにする研究を継続した。理論モデルの構造パラメーターを直接データから推定するなどの研究を追加し、Econometric Society Far Eastern Meetingおよび大阪大学で発表を行った。第四に、前年度に行った、1995年以降の日本の円安がアジア諸国の厚生水準に与えた影響を分析する理論研究をさらに推し進め、効用関数のホーム・バイアスと借り入れ制約を入れた形にモデルを拡張した。このうち後者のほうがはるかに重要であることがわかった。この研究は東京で行われたアジア通貨危機に関するコンファレンスおよび日本経済学会秋季大会で発表された。第五に、景気循環理論に関するサーベイ論文を完成させ、経済社会総合研究所編の書物の一章として出版した。これ以外では、社会資本の経済効果に関する研究を完成させ、Journal of Economic Growthに公刊した。また、所得分配の平等性の決定要因に関する研究(河合正弘氏との共同研究)を進め、世界銀行にレポートの形で報告した。また、デューク大学のPeretto助教授と共同で、関税政策と経済成長に関する研究を進めている。
