项目摘要

19年度には、18年度に作成した学習用ソフトを授業で利用すると同時に、データベースの内容の充実を図った。データベースの検索や学習機能に関しては、おおむね好評で、プログラムに大きな変更を加える必要は認められなかった。コンテンツ充実にあたっては、航海士(船の航行や荷役を担当する)、機関士(船のエンジンやこれを補助するさまざまな機器の運転・保守を担当する)を目指す学生の学習の助けとなるように、関連する様々な専門書籍や、船の運航にかかわる法律の条文、さらには英語を母語とする船長・機関長による操船や機関の運転などに関する講義のビデオなどからも、広く語彙と用例を収集した。これによって、実際の船舶の運航の際に、船上で使われる表現を収集することが可能になった。また航海士が国際的な条約で習得を義務化されている標準海事通信用語集(SMCP)の語彙やフレーズも網羅的にカバーし、本学で開講されている航海英語で学習を開始した。機関士を目指す学生のためには、頻度の高い副詞・形容詞・動詞ごとに単元化して学習を進められるよう配慮するとともに、ディーゼルエンジン、タービン・プラントにかかわる語彙も例文とともに収録、機関英語の授業で学習を開始した。本研究の特徴は、単なる専門用語(=名詞)の羅列ではなく、豊富な用例とともに、それらがどのように使われるかを使用者に示すことにある。3年間の研究期間で収録した語彙は約3000語に上り、例文と合わせ海事英語を使うためのデータベースの基礎を構築することができた。
