项目摘要

本研究による調査は、いのちの教育に関する全国規模の調査として、貴重なデータを提供していると自負しているが、回収率がそれほど高くないことに限界性があるかもしれない。ただ、小学校・中学校とも複数学年からの回答を得ており、しかも教師の意識や児童・生徒の反応についての結果も得ることができた。調査結果からは、多くの小・中学校の現場で、生命や死あるいはいのちを題材とした実践がおこなわれていることがわかった。それらは、「いのちの教育」「いのちの授業」「生命教育」「死の教育」など様々な名称で呼ばれており、さらにはその内容は多岐に渡っていることもわかった。また、そこで用いられる教育方法も種々様々である。一方、生命や死を題材とはしていないが、児童・生徒に「いのち」の意味を考える機会を与えることをねらいとした、いわゆる体験学習型の実践も数多くみられた。これまで事例として報告されるものは少なくなかったが、全国規模の調査はみられなかったので、本研究の結果は今後の教育活動に多くの示唆を与えることができると考えている。そこで本年度は本研究の最終年度であることから、学会における研究発表に留まらず、これらの結果を踏まえたより具体的な提言をするため、おもに小・中・高等学校の教員向けの雑誌に複数の論文を執筆した。また、調査対象校へのデータの還元の為に、研究成果報告書を作成し配布した。
