项目摘要

1. 研究の実施内容:本研究は、日本人留学生を対象とする文化行動学習プログラムを、新たに開発し実践することで、彼らの留学の成功をサポートしようとするものである。具体的には、最も多くの日本人が留学するアメリカで必要となるソーシャルスキルのトレーニングを、留学前に受講してから渡航してもらう。初年度であった、昨年度(平成19年度)は、初回の予備的プログラムの試行を中心として実施した。2年目である今年度(平成20年度)は、初年度版を改良した留学前の教育プログラムを実施した。さらに、プログラムの効果について調べるため、研究代表者が、受講生の留学先であるアメリカにおいて現地調査を実施した。また、縦断的研究の観点から、昨年度のプログラムを受講し、今年度帰国した学生に対する面接調査等も実施した。2. 研究の成果と意義:今年度と昨年度の結果を元に、プログラムの効果を精査し、より効果的なプログラムの提案を試みた。そして、このプログラムを渡航前の学生に対して実施することで試して、反応と効果について調べることができた。本研究は、従来は看過されがちであった、留学前の文化行動学習の重要性に着目している。そのため、本研究のような取り組みを実施することにより、日本からの留学生がスムーズに留学先での学習や生活に移行できるよう、支援していくことが可能になる。したがって、留学生政策の量と質の両面における発展に貢献できるため、実践研究として有意義と考えられる。
