近代建築史研究は、多くの個別研究および通史的研究によって、極めて高い水準に達している。日本においてもその水準は高く、そのことは海外における建築史研究者も、理解するところである。しかしながら、研究方法の相互理解(特に日本における建築史研究の方法および現代の建築を捉える際の視点に対する理解)は、さほど満足すべき状況ではない。これまで、日本の近代建築史は、国外に対しては、作品の羅列に近いかたちでの紹介がなされていたといっても過言ではない。こうした現状を、相互の社会・思想状況の理解を含んだ紹介にしてき、同時に近代建築史の歴史的定位を行なってゆくための基礎作業が本研究である。したがって、建築史研究の基礎条件の整備に務め、インターネットにより(主としてHollis)文献所在情報の収集と分析のシステムを構築した。また、方法論の研究会を行ない、アメリカを中心として、建築史研究の方法の分析を行なった。ヨーロッパ諸国に関しては、近代建築の保存と記録のための団体であるDOCOMOMOとの連絡をとり、情報交換と資料交換の端緒を開いた。さらにはフィンランドにおける建築史研究の大学院課程での講演を行ない、今後の建築史研究の在り方を意見交換した。アジアにおける類似の試みとして、カンボジアにおいて、建築教育のための講演をも今年度中に行なう予定である。具体的な資料の収集の面では、明治初期の日本建築史資料を収集した。これは、現在建築家J.コンドルの資料収集作業として、複数の研究者と協力体制をとって作業を継続中である。本研究は様々な資料の相互比較検討および意見の交換を重視した研究を行ってゆき、日本の近代建築史研究の性格と、研究方法の特質を外国にむけて、積極的に提示する端緒が開けた。

Similar trials, lectures, architectural education, and lectures are scheduled for this year.
