まず,ドイツの3つの図書館に文献複写を依頼することによって,旧約聖書からは「創世記」,新約聖書からは「ヨハネによる福音書」の部分を,1550年から1700年に至る約50の版のルター聖書(Wittenberg版,Luneburg版,Nurmberg版,Frankfurt a. M. 版,Straβburg版など)について収集することができた。前半の時期(1500年〜1625年)の聖書を工藤が,後半の時期(1626年〜1700年)の聖書を高田が,調査・分析の対象とした.これらの各版における言語的修正の事例を相互に比較して,書記法および形態論に関する言語的修正の用例を収集し,これらの用例をそれぞれの修正のパタンや環境とともにパーソナル・コンピュータに入力する作業を始めた.萌芽的研究である本研究としては,いまだ最終的な結論に至ってはいないが,次の事項を中間的結論として挙げることが可能である:1.ルター自身による最終版(1545年)と比べて,その後のルター聖書は書記法と形態論に関して,漸進的にではあるが体系的な改変を被った.具体的には次の通りである.2.dasとdaβ,またuとv,iとjとの書記法上の区別は,17世紀の中葉に行われた.3.sollt, Himmelのような二重子音の表記は,17世紀後半に浸透した.4.動詞の強変化から弱変化への変更は,17世紀に入ってから行われ始めたが,17世紀末にあってもまだ古風な強変化の事例が少なからず見られる.今後,高田と工藤の間で議論と討議を重ねながら,さらに分析作業を進めて,ドイツ標準語形成史におけるルター聖書のドイツ語の役割の解明を行いたい.
