项目摘要

全国のあちこちで小学校における「総合的な学習」が始まり「国際理解教育」の実践も広まりつつある。しかし学校によっては「英語学習」「英語活動」をすることが「国際理解教育」であるかのような取り組みをしているところもある。中学校・高校の現状はさらに悲惨で、「総合的な学習」や「国際理解教育」は教科教育の陰に追いやられて本来の位置づけがされていないところがほとんどである。「英語教育」と「総合的学習」「国際理解教育」との結合こそが急務である。しかし、教科教育を中心とする中学・高校の場合、「総合的学習」「国際理解教育」をそれ独自で計画しようと思っても、かなりの無理が生じる。それよりも各教科の内容を深く追求し幅を広げることによって、自然と「総合的学習」「国際理解教育」に近づけることが出来る。しかし、そのためには教科書をふくらませるための教材開発や補助資料の開拓が欠かせない用件となる。教材開発の一貫として補助資料(音楽・映像資料)の調査・研究に主力を注ぎ、それをデータベース化することが急務である所以である。以上のような事情を反映して、英語教育の教科書教材も、最近は生徒に英米文化を紹介し理解させる「異文化理解」ではなく、多様な民族・文化と共存していくための「国際理解」の道具としての英語、すなわちユネスコ・国際理解教育の「勧告」「指針」が提言しているような、「共生」「人権」「環境」「平和」の多様な教材が教科書に盛り込まれるようになってきている。そこで影像資料については寺島隆吉が主として研究し、音楽資料については寺島美紀子が主として研究し、初年度で一定程度の成果を蓄積してきた。その研究成果の一端は既に研究論文「ベトナム戦争とロック音楽:映画DEAR AMERICAの音楽的背景を探る」『朝日大学一般教育紀要』(第29号:39-76、2004)などで発表してきたが、最終年度の今年は映像資料のデータベースとしてNHK「BSドキュメンタリー」や「NHKスペシャル」などの録画326本を記録した。この一つ一つにつき、その「タイトル」「録画日時」「録画時間」「制作者」「制作年」などを記録しただけではなく、さらに各々に三つ以上のキーワードを付け、授業で使用するときに何時でも検索して使えるようにした。今後の課題は、このデータベースをHPで公開すると同時に、そのタイトルをクリックすると内容の要約も読めるようにすることである。さもないと授業で使いたいと思った教師が内容を確認しながら容易に利用できるようにならないからである。
