1) The beef cattle production in the Southwest Islands is not easy, because it is forform the large consumption area in Japan. However, on the other hand, it is good for producing pasture and feed crop being in the subtropical and oceanic climate zone. The beef cattle also can be raised with sugarcane, main crop in the area.2) The Southwest Islands is the main Japanese beef cattle producing area in Japan. The demand for Japanese beef cattle still expect to increase as introducing the beef liberalization, so it is necessary to increase the Japanese beef cattle production.3)The Southwest Island area of Kagoshima prefecture and Okinawa prefecture must work together to improve the beef cattle production technique and marketing methods.
