附属学校に関する資料は筆者が調べた各大学図書館にはほとんどなく、附属学校任せになっているようであるが、附属学校では資料の系統的保存が不十分で、特に他大学附属校等から寄贈されてきたはずの古い文献が、あまり保存されていないようである。この科学研究費のお陰で、全国各地に散在する附属学校史や師範学校史に関する資料を本学図書館岩見沢分館にまとめて収集することができたが、それらを考察して、戦前における単級複式教育や農村学校等、県内の学校形態の実情に応じた教員養成の努力から学ぶところが多かった。特に、附属小学校単級教場や複式学級、代用附属学校、地方教育実習の制度がそうであった。しかし、教育実習以外の授業科目には単級複式教育や農村教育は特設されておらず、また、教育学分野の教科書の中でも、それほど特筆されていなかった。戦後の教員養成系大学学部におけるへき地教育関係カリキュラムについても調査を行なったが、回答のあった43大学中、へき地複式教育関係授業が現在開設されているのは5大学、現在は開設されていなが以前に開設されていた大学が10大学であった。なお、教育実習にへき地教育を含む大学は8大学、複式学級を含む大学は12大学であった。本研究成果の一部は、平成6年8月の日本教育学会(へき地小規模校教育研究の国際的意義と課題」)と10月の日本教育制度学会(「へき地小規模校教育についての教育制度論的一考察」)での研究発表の際にも取り上げて報告した(それらは当該学会紀要に投稿中)が、本研究成果の体系的報告は、平成7年度科学研究費一般学術図書出版助成を申請中の「へき地小規模校教育研究序説」(多賀出版、平成8年2月予定)の第一部第4章で行なっている。
