現在日本は超高齢社会を迎え、高齢者がよりよい生活を送るため、高齢者の生活の質(以下QOL：Quality of life)について考えていく必要がある。QOLに関連する要因の一つとして、人間の基本的欲求である性に関する事柄が挙げられる。加齢に伴う身体的変化に伴い、高齢者の性機能・性的欲求には性差や年代差が生じることが推測され、その差は夫婦間の関係性に影響を与える可能性がある。特に夫婦間で性交渉のニーズが一致しない場合には、パートナーとの性生活に大きな影響を及ぼす可能性があると共に、パートナー間の人間関係に影響を及ぼす可能性がある。そのため、高齢者夫婦間の性交渉のニーズの一致度や、夫婦間での性交渉のニーズが不一致の際に夫婦どちらのニーズが優先されているかを把握する必要があると考えられる。以上のことから、高齢夫婦が、自身の身体的機能の衰退をどのように捉え、老年期の夫婦のあり方を作りあげているのかを把握していく為、本研究では高齢者を対象とし、①高齢者の性に関する実態②夫婦間の性交渉のニーズの一致度と夫婦間における性交渉のニーズの優先性を把握することを目的とした。調査には性に関する無記名自記式質問紙を用いた。さらに質問紙回収後、統計学的分析として、各質問項目に対し、性別、年代別の回答の差異についてクロス集計を行い、χ二乗検定、Mann-whitneyのU検定を行った。結果、夫婦間での性交渉のニーズ一致群は31名(66％)であり、高齢夫婦間のニーズは一致していると回答した者が全体の半数以上となった。性交渉のニーズ不一致群は、16名(34％)であり、男性で有意に多かった。さらに、夫婦間で性交渉のニーズが一致しない際、配偶者のニーズを優先している者は27名(77.1%)であり、対象者全体の4分の3以上の者が配偶者のニーズを優先していた。
