本研究の目的は、文化財保存修復家像の形成機序の一端を明らかにすることである。そのために、概念メタファー理論に基づいて「保存修復家は文化財の医者である」というメタファーに着目する。20世紀後期から今日にかけての保存修復学文献中にみられる医療のメタファーを調査することで、医療概念がどのように保存修復概念の形成に影響を与えてきたかを考察する。全体的な計画として、まず対象となる文献を収集、テキスト化し、医療のメタファーを示す単語の出現傾向を計量的に分析する。その後、個別のテキストに対し、メタファーの構造を保存修復学・医学両分野における倫理制度の制定時期などに照らしつつ考察する。2022年度の半年間では上記の量的・質的分析に先立ち、先行文献調査及び分析データの収集整理を行った。先行文献調査では、①本研究が依拠する概念メタファー理論の研究動向を把握した。②保存修復以外の学術分野における、医療のメタファーを主眼とする研究動向の検討を行った。これにより、メタファーとして使用されてきた医療関連単語を洗い出した。③保存修復学の文献を対象に、これまで保存修復と医療との関連を論じた記述を整理し分類した。②で洗い出したメタファー単語リストおよび③で得た記述分類は、計量分析時に使用する予定である。分析データの収集整理では、1975年～2021年の間にICOM-CC（国際博物館会議保存国際委員会）大会のTheory, History, and Ethics of Conservationワーキンググループ内で発表された論文のうち英文120件のPDFデータをテキスト化した。分析の事前準備として、表記ゆれや誤字の修正を行いエクセルデータにまとめた。また計量テキスト分析ソフトウェアKH Coderを用いるための作業環境を整備した。
