Current topics in the organic hydrogeochemistry require the use of sophisticated analytical equipment such as ion chromatography and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry. This is also true for the identification of biomarkers in life-science. The here proposed instrument fulfills all the requirements requested from the broad spectrum of prospective users to exploit the instrument to its fullest extent. This includes topics from environmental forensics (fast hot target analytics at extremely low concentrations), analysis of plant an soil samples in the field of biology and body fluids environmental medicine. Especially in the field of environmental forensics the main proposer has an international standing and publication record. The proposed instrument is vital to maintain and extend this reputation. It will ensure the institution of the main proposer to be included in national and international proposals and collaborations.
