昨年度まで、パプアニューギニアのオーストラロ・メラネシアンと、オーストラリアに渡ったオーストラリア原住民(アボリジニ)の起源や、他の集団(含モンゴロイド)との遺伝形質の分化等を明らかにすることを目的として、パプアニューギニアのオーストラロ・メラネシアンの一言語族(ギデラ族、人口約1850人)を対象とした、ウイルス学的かつ遺伝血清学的研究を行ってきた。本年度はまず第1に、成人以降のギデラ族男女727人から採集した血液サンプルのうち、昨年度までにいくつかの血清蛋白質および補体系蛋白質の多型が同定できなかったサンプルについて再実験する一方、特にこの地域に特徴的かこれまでほとんどデータのなかった2項目の血清蛋白質および補体系蛋白質(ITI,C8,PI)の多型を電気泳動法で決定した。第2に、以上の結果および既存のデータとの比較検討により、モンゴロイドの南方拡散に関する分化モデルの作成を試みた。その結果、1.ITIの3つの対立遺伝子の遺伝子頻度は、これまで報告された太平洋以外の集団の場合と同様にサブタイプ1型(0.559)が2型(0.377)より優性で、サブタイプ3型の遺伝子頻度(0.064)は最も高かった。2.C8の2つの対立遺伝子の遺伝子頻度は、これまでの集団の中で最も1型(0.754)が高く2型(0.246)が低いものであった。3.PIの2つの対立遺伝子の遺伝子頻度は、初めて1型(0.389)が2型(0.611)より低いケースとなり、パプアニューギニア(マヌス島)での値(それぞれ0.996,0.004)とも好対照であった。4.現在、7項目の血清蛋白質と5項目の補体系蛋白質の遺伝子頻度を使い、他の集団との関連をデンドログラム等を用いて総合的に検討している。また、いくつかの項目の遺伝子頻度には、集団間差に匹敵する集団内(村落)差が観察されており、この原因についても検討中である。
