Symbiotic Biosphere : An Ecological Interaction Network Promoting the Coexistence of Many Species

以“促进多种物种共存的生态互动网络”为中心，通过众多具有不同专业知识的科学家的密切合作，开展了一个“优先领域的科学研究”项目。它已从1991年4月延长到1995年3月，为期4年。该小组一直负责管理研究项目，该小组1995学年的任务是与项目参与者和外部专家合作，审查、综合和评价这项为期四年的研究项目的结果。为此，我们开展了以下活动：1.组织了几个关于植物与动物相互作用的研讨会，这一直是该项目核心研究之一的主题。2.继续出版1994年开始的“共生生态”研究系列丛书。3.研究项目的所有参与者总结了他们的研究成果的要点。4.在这些书面材料的基础上，我们对该研究项目的结果进行了审查和评估，看看它对整个日本的生态做出了什么贡献。5.我们制作了一批研究项目的最终报告。

With as its central theme "An Ecological Interaction Network Promoting the Coexistence of Many Species, " a "Scientific Research on Priority Areas" project has been conducted through a close collaboration among many scientists of diverse expertise. It has been extended for four years from April 1991 through March 1995. This group has been in charge of administrating the research project and the task of this group in the academic year 1995 has been to examine, synthesize and evaluate the results of the four-year research project in collaboration with the project participants and outside experts. To this end, we have carried out the following activities :1.To organize several workshops on "plant-animal interaction, " which has been the theme for one of the core researches in the project. These have resulted in a prospect toward a new "Scientific Research on Priority Areas" project.2.To continue the publication of a book series from the research project, "Ecology of Symbiosis, " which was started in 1994.3.All the participants of the research project have summarized the main points of their research results.4.Based on these written material, we have examined and evaluated the results from the research project in terms of what contribution it has been made on the ecology of Japan as a whole.5.We have produced a volume of final reports from the research project.
