We examined the patients with DS aged 10 years and older together with their siblings in 2004. Data were analyzed using questionnaires completed by their families (mainly mothers). The total 121 children with DS (62 females and 59 males) were compared with the total 121 siblings (66 females and 55 males). Mean age of DS was 20.3 ± 7.3 years and that of the siblings was 21.2 ± 8.5 years. Mean age of menarche and onset of mammary growth of female DS were not delayed. Though female mean age of growth of axillary and pubic hair was delayed, an interest in male and rebellious attitude to parents was shown almost at the same age as siblings'. As to male, the onset of adolescence was hardly delayed except for an interest in female. Most frequent complication in adulthood was obesity which has appeared in half of the patient, and next to it, sleep apnea, hyperuricema in male, thyroid disease in female was frequent. We have detected sperms in the sample of underclothes of 2 adults with DS by a microscope. Data of normal serum testosterone, slightly high LH and high FSH resembled those to azoospermia. Parents had better prepare for virtually normal onset of adolescence of children with both female and male DS and their adult life.

我们在2004年检查了10岁及以上的DS患者及其兄弟姐妹。数据分析使用由他们的家庭（主要是母亲）完成的问卷调查。共121名DS儿童（62名女性和59名男性）与121名兄弟姐妹（66名女性和55名男性）进行了比较。DS的平均年龄为20.3 ± 7.3岁，兄弟姐妹的平均年龄为21.2 ± 8.5岁。女性DS的平均初潮年龄和乳房发育开始时间未延迟。虽然女性腋毛和阴毛的平均生长年龄推迟，但对男性的兴趣和对父母的叛逆态度几乎在与兄弟姐妹相同的年龄出现。至于男性，青春期的开始几乎没有推迟，除了对女性的兴趣。成人期最常见的并发症是肥胖，约有半数患者出现，其次是睡眠呼吸暂停、男性高尿酸血症、女性甲状腺疾病。我们用显微镜在2例成人DS患者的内衣标本中发现了精子。血清睾酮正常、LH偏高、FSH偏高与无精子症相似。父母最好为患有女性和男性DS的儿童的青春期和成年生活的正常开始做好准备。
