The purpose of this study is to consider the housing and town communities to keep the culture ofraditional festival. The results are as following.1) In our research into the Johana Hikiyama Festival, it has been found that town modernization has changed the housing culture of traditional festival and town communities.2) On the other hand, local towns which keep traditional town houses and their streets intact, decorate them with Byobu (folding screen) or dolls displayed for the girls festival as tourist attractions to revitalize local communities.3) From the case study of Hino town, we found that many people thought it important to keep the traditional festival (Hino-Maturi) and its culture.4) It has also been found that such towns using the historical town houses and the housing culture as a part of the traditional festival have improved the community and culture as a whole.
