本研究は先史モンゴロイド集団のオセアニアへの拡散適応を解明するため、入手し得る限りの発掘情報をデ-タベ-ス化することを当初2年間の目的とし、シミュレ-ションモデルの構築を最終目標としている。本年はまず、オセアニア各地域の考古学的発掘調査の資料収集を図って文献デ-タベ-スを作製するのと平行して、ミクロネシアの年代測定値を中心とした発掘情報のデ-タベ-ス化を行った。具体的には、文献情報および発掘情報を入力するための入力ソフトを設計し、収集した情報の入力体制を整えた。入力した文献数は約1500点、ミクロネシアの遺跡デ-タ数は約150点にのぼる。デ-タベ-スに入力された情報項目は、遺跡名、緯度、経度、高度、島名、諸島名、地域区分、グリッド、層位、14C年代、年代測定番号、年代測定物質、遺跡の種類・環境、判出人工遺物、判出自然遺物、資料掲載報告書の16種類である。ミクロネシアの発掘調査状況は、近年の開発に伴って資料が豊富な西方の島々と、まだほとんど考古学情報の得られていない東方の島々との格差が大きいのが特徴である。また、発掘報告書が出版されることは少なく、文化財保護委員会等への未公刊レポ-トにとどまるものも多い。そのため、全ミクロネシアの年代情報を網羅することはかなり困難であるが、約80%以上は今回作成したデ-タベ-スに納めることができた。ミクロネシア以外では、ハワイやニュ-ジ-ランド、チャタム島の遺跡は既にデ-タベ-ス化されたものを一部入手し、メラネシアの一部デ-タ(ラピタ遺跡関係)もデ-タベ-ス化を始めている。来年度は、引き続きオセアニアの残りの地域、およびオ-ストラリアの資料をデ-タベ-ス化することを計画している。
