项目摘要

ミクロネシア、メラネシアを中心に発掘資料をデ-タベ-ス化した一昨年、昨年に引き続き、本年度はポリネシア地域の発掘資料を収集し、デ-タベ-ス化を行なった。デ-タベ-スはハ-ドウェア:NEC,PCー98XL^2、ソフトウェア、The Card3を使用した。抽出項目は昨年度までと同じで以下のものである:1)遺跡名 2)遺跡立地 3)年代 4)出土人骨の有無 5)出土遺物。デ-タ-数は約1000で、これまでのものと合わせて約3000件となった。本研究が所属する重点領域研究の他のプロジェクト班の要請により、オセアニアのモンドロイド関係のスライドを約200点提供した。これはモンゴロイドの写真をデ-タベ-ス化するプロジェクトで、世界の各地に拡散したモンゴロイドの様子を生活している場で記録収集するというものである。また、一昨年に作成したミクロネシアの遺跡調査デ-タベ-スを検討した結果、調査が貧弱な中央カロリン諸島の考古学調査の必要性と重要性が新らかになった。そのため本プロジェクトとは別に文部省科学研究費(国際学術研究)を得て(代表:大阪大学・小松和彦)、ファイス島で自ら発掘調査を行なった。その結果、ソロモン諸島との文化的親縁関係を示す自然遺物や文化遺物を発掘した。これによって言語学的に示唆されてきた、ミクロネシアの中央カロリン諸島周辺と南東ソロモン諸島周辺の言語的親縁関係を、考古学的に裏付けることができた。この資料は、メラネシアからミクロネシアへのモンゴロイド集団の拡散の様子を年代資料と共に裏付ける最初のものである。
