项目摘要

大阪樟蔭女子大学衣料情報室と、国立民族学博物館大丸研究室では、身装関連分野のデータベース-民博コスチュームデータベース(MCD)の研究とシステムの構築を行っている。以下、95年度の進捗状況および改良点等について報告する。1.データベースの公開MCDは、文字、画像、文書画像による9つのデータ群からなり、95年3月現在で合計約15万件のデータが入力されている。これらのうち3つのデータ群は、民博の公開データベースとして、すでにオンライン検索が可能となった。2.データの分析・加工についての改良点(1)民博衣服標本資料画像データの標準衣服名称の付与95年度には一般検索者用の検索用語として、34の標準衣服名称を設定した。(2)画像データの属性分析コードの作成データの属性分析コード「身装概念コード」から使用頻度の高いもの約500を抜き出し、あらたに、画像用身装概念コード表を作成した。3.衣服標本資料データベースの改良点このデータベースの検索システムは、MacintoshのHyperCardで作成している。95年度には、合計約9,000枚の画像が収納され、1点の標本につき複数画像が表示できるようになり、多角的な観察と分析が可能となった。4.マルチメディアデータベースの作成MCDの9つのデータ群のうち、5つのデータ群を用いて作成している。システムはワークステーション(SUN Sparc Station 10)上に導入した商品DBMS Myriadと、独自に開発したGUIにより実現している。ユーザインタフェースは、ワークステーションのOpen Windows上でXviewを用いて構築したGUIにより実現している。このインタフェースは、4種類のウィンドウおよび6種類のワークスペースからなりたっている。細部の仕様についてはなお改善の余地はあるが、ワークステーションによるマルチメディア機能により、複数のデータベースの横断的検索と、使いやすいユーザインタフェースが実現できたと考えている。
