Re-Cataloguing and digitization of the formerly Donaueschingen manuscripts in the BLB Karlsruhe (part 3)

With the formerly Donaueschingen manuscripts, the Badische Landesbibliothek houses one of the most important collections especially of German-language manuscripts from the Middle Ages. The collection of 287 manuscripts has been scholarly catalogued since 1998 and has been successively made available in digital form since the 2010s. After the cataloguing and digitization of the two sections of literary and theological manuscripts has been completed, the cooperation project of BLB Karlsruhe, WLB Stuttgart and UB Leipzig will now scholarly catalog and digitize the remaining manuscripts.This involves a total of 73 signatures from the subject areas of law, history, medicine/natural history, militaria and art/music. The digitization will be carried out by the BLB, the scholarly cataloguing at the two manuscript centers in Stuttgart and Leipzig. At the UB Leipzig, the medieval manuscripts as well as five volumes from Joseph von Lassberg with material from the early period of medieval studies are being catalogued (43 signatures), and at the WLB, 30 modern manuscripts with a strong regional historical reference.During the project, the results will be continuously made available via the Handschriftenportal and the digital collections of the BLB. The Handschriftencensus, the watermark portal “Wasserzeichen-Informationssystem” and the database for historical bindings “Einbanddatenbank” will be used as additional reference systems.
