生徒と教師の情報交換を円滑かつ活発に行うためのWeb掲示板による質問回答システムのベースシステムを構築し、運用を開始した。質問回答システムはセキュリティを考慮し、SSLによるアクセスを可能とした。利用者の抵抗を抑えるため「コミュニティ」という概念を導入し、記事を小規模のグループ内でのみ閲覧できるようにするなど、柔軟な調整機構を導入した。具体的には、コミュニティに参加する利用者を、計算機のIPアドレスやプライベートアドレス、ログインの有無などによって調整できる。また、掲示板管理者であるモデレータの支援を行うアシスタントを設定するなど、きめ細やかな管理機構を提供している。記事の一覧性を向上させるために、研究代表者が研究を行ってきたinlineLinkを記事閲覧に適用した。inlineLinkを用いると、記事一覧を表示させながら、一部の興味のある記事を展開表示することができるため、全体の流れを把握しながら詳細な部分を閲覧することができる。また、図を用いた質問、回答を行えるようにするため、Popie Appletの組み込みを行った。これにより、掲示板利用者は手軽に図を作成・保存したり、記事に貼り込むことができるようになり、図を用いたコミュニケーションを行うことが可能となった。筑波大学附属坂戸高等学校の阪本教諭の協力を得て、情報A(高校1年生40名対象)の授業において、質問回答システムの運用実験を行った。生徒は、掲示板に5分、Popie Appletに10分程度の説明でシステムについてある程度理解し、使用することができた。
