オホーツク文化人骨の非計測項目の調査を行った。Relethford and Blangero(1990)法では、北部オホーツク集団に外部からの遺伝子流入が示唆された。久米島の近世墓に由来する人骨121個体の頭蓋形態小変異を調査した。先史時代から歴史時代にかけて、本土日本からのみならず、南方からの遺伝的影響を受けている可能性を示唆する。関東地方の中世人頭蓋は長頭・低顔・歯槽性突顎の傾向が強く,その特徴は他の時代には認められないほど顕著であることが分かった。由比ヶ浜南遺跡単体埋葬墓から出土した中世人骨の生命表に基づき、当時の人口構成の復元を行った。男女比はほぼ1:1であり、未成年と成人個体の比は2:3であった。また、当時の平均寿命が24.0歳という結果が得られた。今回、鎌倉市由比ヶ浜南遺跡の中世人骨を資料として、複数個体の古人骨から結核菌DNAの抽出を試みた。中世馬の形態研究と人骨・動物骨の出土状況の分析による中世の遺体処理に関する研究のふたつのテーマで研究を行った。中世の遺体処理に関する研究では、タフォノミーの方法論と法医学の知見を総合し、遺棄葬の認定基準を提起した。本年度は北海道大学総合博物館収蔵のオホーツク文化期人骨のうち、モヨロ貝塚出土試料を中心に、放射性炭素年代を進めた。モヨロ貝塚、浜中2遺跡、ウトロ神社山遺跡の安定同位体分析では、いずれの遺跡でもオホーツク文化集団は、海生哺乳類を主要なタンパク質源としていることが示唆され、彼らの主たる生業が海獣狩猟であると推測された。

The stable isotope analysis of the remains of the mountain and the mountain shows that the main source of the marine mammals is the sea.
