Integral research study for annotated catalogue of Japanese illustrated books of the Spencer Collection

In order to understand the whole picture of the Spencer Collection of the New York Public Library, this study conducted researches on the collection's Japanese illustrated scrolls and books aiming at publishing a critical bibliography. Though it was not allowed to view the entire collection because of the Library's condition, we could proceed research and study on significant pieces. As production of the research, three books, AMERICA NI WATATTA MONOGATARIE --EMAKI, BYOBU, EHON--, EGA MONOGATARU NIHON --SPENCER COLLECTION WO TAZUNETE-- and its English version JAPANESE VISUAL CULTURE --PERFORMANCE, MEDIA, AND TEXT-- were published.
