本研究の目的は、言語の文脈情報処理に関するものであり、まず、文脈構造の分析・解析とモデル化を行い、その基盤の上に個々の文の意味構造、文章全体の意味構造・談話構造、及び文脈構造と対象世界の一般的知識との関係などを明らかにして、文脈構造とその処理法の計算機モデルを解明し、さらに、これらの基礎の上にたって、特に文脈処理が重要な位置を占める対話システムの研究を行なうものである。得られた成果は次の通りである。(1)(田窪)日本語を対象として、メンタルスペース理論の基本的な考え方をふまえて、言語場制約を複数信念スペースの立場から捉えた。(2)(坂原)発話内容がどのように最終的言語理解に転化されるかを、メンタルスペース理論の立場から考察した。(3)(山田)発話行為を状況意味論の立場から構文や認知と統合して捉え、言語と行為に関する一般理論の枠組を構成した。(4)(金水)日本語の名詞句の指示対象がどのような機構によって形成されるかを、メンタルスペース理論の立場から、明らかにした。(5)(桃内)文章生成過程における意味構造から表層表現への変換過程を文章の結束性の観点から分析的に構成した。(6)(中村、辻井)メンタルスペース理論を形式意味論の枠組により定式化し、解析的・構成論的に解明した。(7)(堂下)文脈構造と知識や推論を一体とした統合的自然言語理解システムを作成し、空間情報の理解に適用した。(8)(田村)構文・意味解析において、文の概念の解釈に独立的な根拠に基づく複数の知識を推論に利用する多重推論を提案した。(9)(中川)構文解析・意味解析・談話解析に超並列的な計算モデルであるコネクショニストモデルの適用を行なった。(10)(米澤)人と機械の自然な対話を信念・意図の相互理解として捉え、オブジェクト指向プログラミング方式で実現した。(11)(安部)文脈理解を機械部品組み立てという専門的タスクに対して具体的に適用し、その過程を計算機でシミュレートした。

The purpose of this study is to analyze, parse, and analyze context structure related to speech context information processing, meaning structure of the text above the base, meaning structure of the text as a whole, conversational structure, and context structure related to general knowledge and relationships in the image world.
