英文摘要
Comprehensive studies were carried out jointly on various items involved in further advancement of aerosol research, and the main topics are summarized as follows ;1. Production of fine particlesAs for the theoretical study of nucleation processes from gaseous matter, there still remain essential unsolved problems such as the sticking probability of gas molecules, as well as the improvement in experimental techniques. Production of homogeneous sized fine particles is one of the essential requirement for industrial use of fine particles, and the combined techniques developed in items 2) and 3) will be useful method for further research.2. Dynamics of particlesA quadrupole cell was successfully utilized for levitating a single particle in a cell, and this technique is expected to be extremely useful for basic experimental research of aerosols such as sizing, physical and physico-chemical characterization and dynamics study of particles. Further technical ements will be needed to extend i … More ts applicability to more wider size range of particles. Some peculiar behaviors were observed for light-absorbing particles under the irradiation of laser beam. Particle heating and dynamics of heated particles are thought of special importance to elucidate these phenomena.3. Measurement of particlesApplication of light scattering techniques to sizing of aerosol particles was studied comprehensively. Angular scattering measurement in combination with Kelvin cell dynamic light scattering (photon correlation spectroscopy, PCS) were confirmed to be most useful for in-situ measurement of fine particles. Further improvement is still required for data inversion technique used in PCS.4. Atmospheric aerosolsParticle induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) method was studied applied to elemental analysis of airborne particulates sampled at the areas of Uji, Osaka and Vienna, and the local features are now being examined. Further joint works will be continued with this item. Another important topic discussed during this joint work was the contribution of atmospheric aerosols to the global climate, and a continuing joint research program is now under consideration. Less
