Open Access Service at Mainz University of Applied Sciences Mainz University of Applied Sciences wants to promote the principle of Open Access. There-fore, Mainz University of Applied Sciences has adopted a draft open access policy and signed the Berlin Declaration and DEAL agreements with Springer and Wiley. It is also developing internal structures and a process for dealing with open access. To promote open access publishing in the long term, it is essential to establish a qualified Open Access team. As a rule, academics at Mainz University of Applied Sciences do not (yet) know which Open Access information centers are relevant for them - both regarding writing their own publications and regarding other questions about publishing. The central Open Ac-cess point of contact, located in the university library, also handles communication with pub-lishers. An Open Access Officer has been appointed and an Open Access Working Group has been formed with advisory functions. Furthermore, an Open Access Policy has been adopted by the Senate Committee for research and transfer in March 2022. The Mainz University of Applied Sciences plans to use regular information events and training sessions to raise awareness of Open Access among members of the university and to in-crease their publishing activities in Open Access. Scientists are also informed about variants of open access publishing. The Open Access Publication Fund uses clearly defined criteria to regulate the assumption of publication costs. The accompanying processes and information for members of the university are designed to achieve a greater proportion of open access publications in the overall volume of scientific publications at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
