In order to make research results freely accessible worldwide and barrier-free, fees are often incurred for the publication, which should be taken over and managed by a central university office to ensure cost-effectiveness. In addition, scientists should be relieved of complex bureaucratic processes in the context of publishing. Significant fee savings can be achieved through sensibly plannable framework agreements and participation in consortia.Open Access publication activities are to be promoted through intensified communication with the scientists about events at the University Library, cooperation with the central office for research funding at the TU Clausthal and cooperation with the Graduate Academy of the TU Clausthal to raise awareness among young scientists.The Clausthal University of Technology is striving for membership of ORCID-DE and, in connection with the introduction of the current research information system FIS (HIS-RES), expects improved visibility of the publication output of university scientists and an improved overview of the entire publication output.Due to the increased volume of Open Access publications in recent years, the university library will evaluate the internal business processes in cooperation with all the departments involved and the financial accounting department of the university and adapt them adequately to the changed framework conditions. The aim is also to get an improved overview of all publication costs, as recommended by the Science Council (Wissenschaftsrat).Furthermore, the funding conditions of the university's publication fund for Open Access publications will be revised by the end of 2022. This is intended to take account of the latest trends in publishing, changes in pricing and the increased volume of publications.
