项目摘要

The mechanisms of "Tatara Steelmaking" which was a Japanese traditional ironmaking process has been investigated and studied for a new ironmaking process. (1) The compact "Tatara Furnaces" for making steel blooms or liquid pig iron was constructed and (2) 14 runs were carried out. (3) Temperature and oxygen potential were monitored during ironmaking and steelmaking by thermocouole and oxygen sensor. Also, the composition of steels, pig irons and slags were chemically analyzed. (4) The conventional "Tatara" which is operated 4 times in winter season has been studied on its operation way. (5) From above studies, the following results were obtained; The characteristics of "Tatara" steelmaking is the operation at low temperature of about 1350℃ and high oxygen potential of about 1x10^<-12>atm under rapid heating and reaction. The carbon contents in steel bloom and pig iron are about 1.5% and about 3.5%, respectively and the silicon content is almost trace. This indicates that the ironmaking reaction in "Tatara" is not in thermodynamic equilibrium. (6) Then, for developing a new ironmaking process, a pellet composed of iron ore and coal was examined for producing liquid pig iron at 1350℃ during 8 minutes under rapid heating and reaction.
