1) Two different types of MGDG synthase genes (type A and B) were isolated from Arabidopsis thaliana.2) Tissue specific expression profiles of type A and B MGDG synthase gene were determined.3) Vectors for transformation of Arabidopsis and tobacco were constructed.4) A cDNA of MGDG synthase was isolated from spinach.5) Enzymatic properties and Localization site of spinach MGDG synthase was determined.6) Biochemical characteristics of recombinant MGDG synthase were determined, and they are basically same to those of native enzyme purified from spinach leaves.7) We found that spinach MGDG synthase was located in inner envelope fraction.
