项目摘要

日本と朝鮮における発声映画への転換期にあらわれた言説の分析を行うため、両国において初期トーキー時代に発行された新聞、大衆文化雑誌、映画批評の専門雑誌などを調査した。特に本年度は朝鮮の場合に注目して、雑誌などの一次資料とともに現存している植民地期映画のテキスト（『迷夢』（1936年）、『軍用列車』（1938年）、『漁火』（1938年）、『授業料』（1940年）など）の分析を文献上の言説と比較しながら行った。朝鮮では、発声映画の製作が始まった以後も、資本・施設・技術の不足で理想的な製作環境が整えられなかったため、その解決策についての議論が長年にわたり言説の主流となっていたという特徴が発見できた。実際この時期日本から資本やスタッフが活発に流入していた一方、逆に朝鮮からも数多くの人々が日本の映画界を経験して帰国し、トーキー映画の製作に携わったことが確認できる。他方、このような交流の有用性について否定的な立場を取る批評家も存在していて、発声映画をめぐる言説は複雑性を見せていた。興行の場合は、より有利な環境が作られていて、例えば、京成の洋画専門常設館は、上映目録だけをおいて考えると「世界に自慢しても良いくらい」のレベルだと評価されていた。このことで、朝鮮人観客も、西洋の発声映画に対する露出度が日本人観客より増加し、高尚のある鑑賞力が持てるようになったと言われたが、他方、サウンドによってより刺激的になったハリウッド映画のエロティシズムを統制するようにしていた植民地政府の検閲政策と緊張関係におかれることもあった。結局、朝鮮における初期発声映画は、感覚的な都市消費文化の一側面として受容されながらも、その政治性は植民地が持つ限界によって常に再編されていたと結論づけることができよう。
