项目摘要

機械翻訳システムの高度化の研究では、文法規則の妥当性をどのようにして得るか、どのような文法規則が機械翻訳という立場から見て妥当であるかということが問題となる。さらに、言葉のもつ意味を明確化する手法、知識を用いて文章の解釈を行なうことの可能性についても検討する必要がある。このような立場から、以下の研究を行なった。1.文法推論に基づいた翻訳文法の学習方式の研究。日英の対訳および誤訳の単文を多数、計算機に与え、相互比較することによって、単純な文法規則を抽出することが可能であることがわかった。2.実例に基づいた翻訳の研究。多数の実例(単文の対訳)に基づき、翻訳過程における単文レベルの訳し分けを行うことがある程度可能であることがわかった。この訳し分けには、アナロジーに基づいた翻訳とメモリベースの推論手法を統合することにより行なった。3.共起関係に注目したDM分解と確率的推定による単語のクラスタリングの研究。単語間の共起関係を、実例から推定するアルゴリズムを作成し、単語の意味的分類を詳細に行なうための手法の一つを明らかにした。実験の結果、妥当な意味分類が一定条件の上で可能であることがわかった。4.辞書定義文の解析とその知識ベース化の研究。翻訳の高度化に必要な言語知識ベースを、辞書やハンドブックなどの既存の言語データから自動抽出することがある程度可能であることがわかった。5.英語辞書を用いた文脈処理用活性化ネットワークの実験。活性化ネットワークの考え方を用いて、単語の意味的なあいまいさを文脈的な観点から解消するモデルに必要な単語間の意味的な関連性を表現するネットワークを、既存の英語辞書から作成し、活性化の実験を行なった。その結果、このような手法の可能性と問題点がわかった。
