The ultimate aim of this research is to complete many-sided and comprehensive studies in a work of medieval French literature, that is, Roman de Renart(Tales of Reinard the fox), and thus to solve problems about it. To realize this, at least three categorical studies seem indispensable, namely a linguistic study, a philological study and a literary study. Concerning the linguistic study as the first division, a term of two years anables us to achieve good results. As is written on our research project paper, the linguistic study was prosecuted for two years focusing on lexicology, because the fundamental material in that field had already been noted down on cards, and the field is comparatively easy to deal with. As for the field of lexicology, it will not be very difficult to publish A Lexicon of the Roman de Renart, which is desired by academic circles, with a littre correction and standarization. With regard to other fields of the linguistic study which could not be completed in the past two years, its research should be continued in connection with the other two studies in the future. Fortunately enough, the results of the research so far, including those achieved in the past two years, had a favorable reception at international congresses, and bulletins with global fame came to carry their reviews. The fruits in these two years should be a stepping-stone to other fields of study which should be conducted anew.
