项目摘要

今年度は、昭和63年度に引き続いて、鳥居龍蔵博士撮影の総計約3千点の写真・乾板資料の再生・複製を完了させ、全資料に関してネガ・フィルムの作成、永久保存のための処置を当初の計画通りに終わらせた。鮮明な画像に再生されたそれらの写真資料について、旧満州、千島アイヌ、朝鮮半島、台湾(主に原住民族)、沖縄西南中国、ミクロネシア、日本の各地域・各民族別に、専門研究者が分担して照合・分析にあたり、また一部の資料(台湾等)に関連しては戦前に活躍した長老の研究者の助言をあおぐ、日本国内(沖縄等)の資料は確認のための調査を行うなど、可能な範囲内で実施計画に記載した研究方法をとることができた。その結果、台湾、旧満州、千島、西南中国の写真資料は、すべて照合・分析および解題の執筆作業が完了し、鳥居龍蔵博士の地域別の年譜、調査足跡図、関連文献目録、民族分布図等と合わせて、今年度中に東京大学総合研究資料館から大部の写真資料カタログ(全4冊を予定)として出版する計画である。残りの地域の写真についても近々同じ作業を完成させる目処が立っている。また、写真カタログの出版と並行して、各写真資料の属性デ-タを抽出・記録する作業を行ってきたので、それらに基づいて画像デ-タベ-スを構築することも可能な段階まで来ている。2年間にわたる本研究で、撮影後80〜90年を経て劣化の著しかった鳥居博士の貴重な学術写真資料を再生・保存し、撮影された画像の照合・分析を通して博士の記録した日本周辺諸民族の古い姿を現在に蘇らせるという所期の研究目的は、ほぼ達成されたことになる。

Most of the photo data will be published at the University of Tokyo's Comprehensive Research Database in the middle of this year (all four volumes are scheduled). The photo of the remaining area is completed and the target is established. For example, the publication and parallel processing of photo data, the extraction and recording of attributes of each photo data, and the construction of basic photo data may be performed at different levels. During the two years of this research, Dr. Torii's valuable academic photo data were regenerated, preserved, and photographed and analyzed after 80 to 90 years of deterioration. The expected research goal has been achieved since Dr. Torii's records and the ancient postures of the various ethnic groups in Japan were released to the present.
