项目摘要

日本語の詫び、感謝表現を(1)実際の会話から収集したデ-タ、(2)数種類のアンケ-ト調査、(3)母語話者としての内省、に基づいて分析した結果、以下のことが明らかになった。1.詫びは、話し手の行為によって生じた状況(event)を聞き手にとって不快感をもたらす状況、即ち「不快状況」とする評価に基づいて遂行される行為で、感謝は聞き手の行為によって生じた状況を話し手に満足感、心地よさをもたらす状況、即ち「快適状況」とする評価に基づいて遂行される行為と見ることができる。2.感謝の場面における「すみません」の使用は「話し手にとっての快適状況」を「聞き手にとっての不快状況」と判断する「状況転換」の結果生じたものと考えることができる。この状況転換は、話し手から聞き手への視点の移動を伴う丁寧行動の方策と考えることができる。3.状況転換の方策は「共感型発話行為の制約」と「役割期待の制約」の二つの制約によってその適用が制限される。即ち、祝福、誉め、などの共感型の発話行為に対する応答の場合及び、快適状況を形成する行動が社会的役割が規定するル-ティ-ンの一部であると話し手が判断する場合、状況転換の方策は適用されない。4.単一の快適状況に対して「ありがとう」と「すみません」の両方が用いられることがある。この場合、通常「すみません」が「ありがとう」に先行する。これは、これら二つの表現が持つ談話構成上の機能を異にするからである。即ち、「すみません」は専ら快適状況に対する直接的な応答というロ-カルな談話構成機能を有するのに対して、「ありがとう」は快適状況の生起及びこれに対する応答から成るやりとり(exchange)全体の終結を表示する機能を有するからである。
