1.本年度の研究の第一の作業は(財)東洋文庫の所蔵する敦煌出土の文書のマイクロフィルムのうち、コータン語文書を含むものの複写を作成し、これを既出版のローマ字転写によるテクストと対校することであった。今回の研究の範囲は、個々の写本の「正しい読み」をすべて決定する作業にまでは至らないが、それでも表面的な調査で、いくつかの写本に関して、現行の転写テクストの行の脱落(おもに写本の冒頭または末尾)を確認することができ、さらには一写本の一部を過去に裏打ちして補修していたのを、最近になって裏打ちを剥した結果、今まで全く知られていなかった新しいテクストが出現しているのを確認することができた。これについては別に論文を準備中である。2.データのコンピュータ入力に関しては、コータン語内の時代的な二つの層の間で綴り字の相違が相当に大きく、これを同一のプログラムで処理してアルファベット順に配列するよりも、分離して別のプログラムで処理した方が得策であると分かったため、まずより規則的な正書法を示す古層のテクストの入力を行なった。現在の時点(3月中旬)で古コータン語テクストの約9割が入力済みである。3.データ入力が完全に終了していないため、これをKWIC化することは現時点ではできない。しかし、KWICプログラム自体は、他の数種類のプログラムと組合せて動かすもので、これらに比べて比較的単純なものである。KWIC以外のプログラム(入力テクストの外字をASCII文字に変換、単語に分割、ブラーフミー文字のアルファベットによるコード化、コードによる配列、ファイル分割、ASCII文字からもとのテクストの文字に変換)は既に小規模のテクストで実行され、実用になるものであることが明らかになった(「結果発表」のうち「サンスクリット=コータン語二言語文書」に関するもの参照)。
