According to our surveys on around 60 state and private universities in Japan, as for the economical and financial status of the family of students, the students of the University of Tokyo and the University of Kyoto (the oldest and most excellent two state universities in the country) are found out to come from the most privileged families among of all state and private universities, to which comes close only Keio University, the oldest and best private university.Generally speaking, Japanese universities are being bipolarized of those existing in megalopolis whose students come from rich families and those existing in local areas who gathers students from not so privileged families. The average ratio of the number of scholarship students to the number of all students are 30% (state univ.) and 19% (private univ.) and, those ratios of the four of the elite universities in Japan ; Univ.of Tokyo, Univ.of Hiroshima (state univ.), Waseda Univ.and Keio Univ.are found out less than the average ratio. Regarding the ratio of the students who have answered ; "I don't want or need to be awarded any scholarships, " however, it is more than 60% for Univ.of Tokyo, Keio Univ.and Waseda Univ., while it is only 40% for Univ.of Hiroshima.
