1.「家族」学習の課題今日、近代を経て世界人権宣言に始まる一連の人権運動の取り組みの中で、民族、女性、子ども、高齢者、障害者、先住民などの人権と固有の権利が見直され、これまでの家族のあり方が問われ、規範意識も揺らいでいる。夫婦別姓や事実婚、非摘出子問題など婚姻制度に対する異議申し立ても見られる。このようななかで、これまでのような理想の家族像の伝達は、学習として無意味であるだけでなく、学習として成立しなくなっている。本研究では、「家族」の学習をどのように行うべきかをNY州やわが国の事例から考察し、「家族」学習の視点を明らかにすることを試みた。2.NY州“Home and Career Skills"における「家族」学習NY州の前期中等教育の必修教科では、「家族」という用語が示す範囲は、血縁や婚姻、養子に限定されていない。共通の目的で結び付いたグループ、といった拡大解釈を採用している。そのような「家族」は、「個人の発達」を学ぶ際に、人間発達の一つの環境として学ばれる。方法は子どもによる事例調査や家族問題の専門家などへの聞き取り、教師と子どもの討論等により進められる。従って、現実の家族をリアルに捉え、自分はどのような家族をつくるのか、自分の生き方を選びとることを可能にする。同様の視点は、わが国実践例にもみられる。3.「家族」学習の視点本来、どのような家族をつくるかは、個人の自己決定の問題である。しかし、自己決定できるためには、離婚や夫婦別姓・事実婚・非摘出子問題等を切口に家族の現実を捉え、共同で探求する学習が必要であるとえいよう。
