ドラヴィタ語品詞論の体系的記述を目指す研究の一環として、本年度は、タミル語およぴカンナダ語の人称名詞(personal nounまたは代名詞化名詞pronominalized noun)に関する考察を行った。1.ドラヴィタ語に特徴的な形態的派生法である人称名詞は、古代タミル語において最も体系的に保存されているが、通ドラヴィタ語的に見た場合、ゼロ形式化を含む性・数・人称のグル-ピングや統語形態上の振る舞いにおいて、様々な発展を見せており、一つの文法的範疇としてくくることの整合性の問題がある。例えば、文字をもつ四大ドラヴィタ語を例にとってもその様態はそれぞれに固有的である。2.ただ、北部、中部、中南部、南部の各語派において在証されることから、ドラヴィタ祖語に遡る範疇であるという作業仮説に立ち、別の分析視点を採れば、通ドラヴィタ語的に様々な発展の様態を見せる「人称名詞」構造が共有する属性を抽出し記述することができれば、それはドラヴィタ語が固有に有している品詞体系を規定する現象であると言える。3.例えば、古代タミル語の人称代名詞は、一つの形態が、性(3人称のみ)・数・人称を同時に表示し、派生接であり、同時に屈折接辞として機能する。上述の共有特徴に関しては、顕在的であれ、潜在的であれ、性・数・人称という屈折範疇が、また、NAV hyper-classという派生範疇が関与的である.4.これらの知見の一部は第107回日本言語学会大会(1993年10月23日、於愛媛大学)シンポジウム「膠着言語・言語における膠着性をめぐって-ドラヴィダ諸語」において発表報告を行った。
