<研究内容の概要> 本研究では、(1)タオルを絞ったあと実際に使用する状態に整えたときまでの温度変化の測定、(2)ある温度の対象を清拭したときの温度変化の測定、(3)濡れたタオルを湯でゆすぐときの湯温の変化の測定、の3項目の実験をし考察した。能動変数に、実験(1)では、室温、湯温、タオルの種類・重量、タオルを絞った後の重量(絞る強さ)、広げたりたたんだりする方法(清拭する状態に整える方法)、実験(2)では、清拭対象の温度、タオルの用い方(絞る強さとたたみ方)、実験(3)では、タオルの種類・重量、タオルを絞る強さ(水分量)・温度、準備した状態の湯温をとり、実験を繰り返した。また、タオルを広げたりたたんだりする方法は、看護技術の教科書に一般的に示されている、ウォッシュクロスを手に巻いて使用する方法と、タオルをたたんで手で握りやすい大きさにする方法をベースに、(1)では、使用する面が厚く(枚数を重ねてあり)、広げることが少なく、使用状態に近くあらかじめたたんであり、短時間で使用できる状態に整えることのできる方法が、温度が最も低下しにくいであろう、という仮定のもとに、タオルの使用方法を考え実験した。<研究結果の概要>(1)ウォッシュクロスで、絞りやすくたたんだものを用いて、絞ったあと広げて手に巻きつける方法を取るとき、最も温度が低下した。ウォッシュクロスを手に巻いた形をあらかじめ作っておきそのまま絞ると、温度低下は少ない傾向があった。フェイスタオルでは、絞るとき外側になっていた面の温度が低下していた。(2)温度の低下率は清拭対象の温度の影響を強く受け、清拭する長さが長いほどその傾向があった。タオルの水分量・重ねる枚数によっては、表面は温度低下していても深部は低下が少なく、更に裏返しながら使用することも可能であろうと考えられた。(3)湯温が高いほど湯がさめやすく、タオルの温度と湯温の低下は比例関係ではなかった。
