本研究は、伊藤仁斎の倫理思想を、その著『中庸発揮』諸稿本の分析に基づく「中庸」概念の規定の独自性から明らかにすることを目的てする。具体的には、天理図書館古義堂文庫所蔵の五種の『中庸発揮』稿本(仁斎自身の補正が加えられているいわゆる′正本′)、即ち「第一本」「第二本」「第三本」「第四本」「元禄七年校本」の複写を入手し、その本文及び補正の分析によるテキスト確定という基礎作業に基づき、研究を遂行した。その結果得られた成果及び知見として、以下が揚げられる。即ち、1.上記五種稿本の本文をパーソナルコンピュータに入力し、MS-DOSテキストファイルとすることによって、データベースとして活用することが可能となった。また「元禄七年校本」に関しては、その補正後の本文を確定・入力することにより、従来部分的なものであった仁斎生前最終形態『中庸発揮』の確定テキストを作成した。2.1のテキスト確定にともない、現在活字本として参照しうる伊藤東涯校訂の刊本『中庸発揮』と、仁斎最終形態テキストとの異同が明らかとなった。3.朱子学の「中庸」解釈に対して、仁斎のそれが極めて独創的なものであり、併せてそれが仁斎学全体の構造においても象徴的な位置にあることが確認された。即ち、『中庸』冒頭句「天命之謂性率道修道之謂教」に即して言えば、朱子は「中庸」を「道」「性」に一貫する形而上的「理」と同一のものとし、さらにそれは抽象的原理としての「中」に集約されると促える。これに対し仁斎は、「中庸」を孔子の「教」によって初めて可能となった「人道」の把握形態とし、さらにそれを尭舜の「中」に対する実践的な自覚と促える。仁斎において「中庸」は、いわば分裂した「道」と「性」とを架橋する教説原理の中枢にあるものだと考えられる。

This study is based on the analysis of the ethical thoughts of Hitoshi Ito and the manuscripts of the "moderation" concept, and the definition of the "moderation" concept. Specifically, the five kinds of manuscripts of "Zhongyong Development" stored in the ancient Yitang Library of Tianli Library (the original version of Ren's own correction), namely, the first book, the second book, the third book and the fourth book, the copy of the seven years of Yuanlu, the analysis of the text and the correction, the determination of the basic work, and the implementation of the research.
