1.研究課題に関わる先行研究を収集したほか、資料調査を実施して、下記の史料を撮影・複写した。(1)については史料データベースを作成した(1)明治前期の各府県の小学教則・小学試験規則(2)明治初期の日本で流行していた教授方法書・教育学書(3)19世紀の米国の教育雑誌の教育方法・教育学関係記事2.分析(1);近世の伝統的試験制度からの影響の検討を、下記の手順で進めた(1)各県の小学試験制度を、各藩政時代の試験制度と対比した(2)各県の小学試験担当者の藩政時代の試験体験につき史料調査した3.分析(2):海外教育情報(書籍、雑誌等)による欧米試験制度からの影響の検討を、下記の手順で進めた(1)19世紀の米国の教育雑誌と日本の文部省刊行雑誌等の試験制度の記事を対比した(2)19世紀のオランダ、フランス、明治初期の日本における試験関係規定を対比した4.以上の研究情報と分析結果は未整理である。次年度には研究発表・研究論文にまとめる予定である。なお、本研究の副産物として、各都道府県や主要都市においてこれまでに編さんされた『教育史』本の刊行状況をまとめ、これを一覧できる『府県教育史等一覧(未定稿)』を作成した。
