Phylogenetic Study of South American Monkeys

本研究的目的有两个：一是获得现存南美猕猴，特别是南美猕猴之间分类关系的基础数据。塞米里。一是通过对中新世灵长类的古生物发掘获得南美猕猴系统发育的基础资料，二是通过地质学方法收集有关中新世灵长类栖息的绝对年龄和古环境的基本信息。将在哥伦比亚惠拉省的半荒漠地区进行古生物和地质研究，1979年以来在那里已经发现了灵长类化石。对南美现存猴子的比较研究将在巴西的几个博物馆进行，如里约热内卢的灵长类中心、贝伦和马瑙斯的自然历史博物馆。阿根廷、巴西、玻利维亚和美国的几所大学和机构将对南美猴子化石和活猴子进行比较研究。

The purpose of the present research is two-fold : First to get the basic data for the taxonomic relationships among the living South American Monkeys, especially Alouatta. Saimiri. Callithrix and Cacaiao of which the direct ancient fossils were already discovered, by means of morphological methods, and second to get basic data for the phylogeny of the South American Monkeys by means of paleontological excavation of the Miocene primates and to gather the basic information about the absolute age and paleo-environment of which Miocene primates inhabited by means of geological methods.The paleontological and geological researches will be done in the semi-desert area in the Huila Department of Colombia, where we have already discovered fossil primates since 1979. The Comparative studies of living South American monkeys will be done in the several museums in Brasil, such as primate Center of Rio de laneiro.Natural History Museums of Beren and Manaus. The comparative studies between fossil and living South American monkeys will be done in the several universities and institutions in Argentina.Brasil.Bolivia and USA.
