This study aims to accomplish the following : (1) understanding and evaluating the current status of the various projects by corporations or educational groups, which attempt to introduce the technology of multimedia network into the educational system, and making necessary suggestions for the further pratices ; (2) developing a system that allows previously stored educational information to be circulated between these groups or institutions, and supporting organizationally this circulation of information through multimedia ; and (3) establishing an evaluation system for such educational practices of multimedia network and for students learning processes, and having these evaluations suggest how these projects should proceed to the next step.In the academic year of 1996, the project consisted of the same three teams as the previous year. These include : (A) the team that investigates and experiments the use of multimedia or network technology in primary and lower secondary schools ; (B … More ) the team that investigates and experiments the use of multimedia or network technology for teachers ; and (C) the team that examines the educational significance of such practices and the evaluation methods.Team A developed a model curriculum called "Vegetables and Fruits Database, " which is connected with the internet, on the basis of the previous study about distant education in general or an advanced project such as "Media Kids." The team also evaluated the practicality of this material. Furthemore, it improved existing internet homepages and created a sample CD-ROM.The copies were distributed to schools for an enlightening purpose.Team B tried to standardize the format of previously stored educational information (teaching materials, media kits, and so on) so that universities or institutions can make an effective use of such information. The team also investigated how these materials are used or what the effects were.Team C continued from the previous year to study the process and accomplishment of the Internet 100 Schools Collaboration Project, and clarified issues such as technical problems, changes in teachers' minds, and how to train instructors.The results of this study were gathered together in the final report.
