A cognitive-psychological study on understanding, memory, and production of text.

该研究项目旨在阐明人类对文本和话语的理解、记忆和产生的认知过程。特别是，在本课题中，我们探讨了回指消解和篇章摘要的心理学原理，因为回指消解是把握篇章中句子之间连贯关系的必要条件，摘要需要理解、记忆和产生篇章的所有认知活动。作为该项目的结果，我们发现了影响回指消解的几个因素。这些因素包括句法、语义、主位、语用等不同层面的因素。我们还发现，摘要过程包括三个认知子过程，即，文本意义表征的构建过程、意义表征的主旨信息的确定过程、主旨信息的表层表达的产生过程。

This research project aimed at clarifying the human cognitive processes of comprehension, memory, and production of text and discourse. Especially, in this project, we pursued the psychological principles of anaphora resolution and text summarization, because that the anaphora resolution is necessary to grasp the coherent relationship among sentences in a text and the summarization needs all the cognitive activities of understanding, memory, and production of text. As a result of the project, we found out several factors affecting anaphora resolution. The factors include those in such different levels as syntactic, semantic, thematic, and pragmatic. We also found out that the summarization process consists of three cognitive sub-processes, i.e., the construction process of meaning representation of text, the determination process of the gist information of the meaning representation, and the production process of the surface expression of the gist information.
